Spouse Visa

For married partners of British citizens, settled persons, or Turkish Businessperson Visa holders (or those on qualifying visas). Heavily evidence-based, with strict financial and English language requirements.

Who Can Apply?

  • Legally married couples
  • Relationship must be genuine and ongoing
  • Sponsor must be British, settled, or on an eligible visa

Minimum Financial Requirement

  • £29,000 per year (combined income may be used in some cases)
  • OR sufficient cash savings (usually £88,500+)
  • Different rules apply where children are involved

English Language

  • A1 (initial)
  • A2 (extension)
  • B1 (ILR)

Stay Duration

  • Initial visa: 2 years 9 months (outside UK)
  • Extension: 2.5 years
  • ILR after 5 years (subject to earned settlement reforms)

Home Office Fees (Approx.)

  • £1,938 (outside UK) / £1,321 (inside UK)
  • IHS: £1,035 per year
