Tier 1 Investor Visa — Extensions & ILR

The Tier 1 Investor route is closed to new applicants but remains available for extensions and settlement for existing visa holders. Applications are assessed under legacy Immigration Rules but require strict evidential and suitability preparation.

Who Can Apply?

  • Existing Tier 1 Investor visa holders
  • Applicants who invested qualifying funds in the UK
  • Individuals maintaining their investments in line with the rules

Key Requirements

  • Evidence of qualifying investment (£2m / £5m / £10m)
  • Continuous investment throughout the qualifying period
  • Lawful source of funds
  • No suitability breaches

Settlement Timelines

  • £2 million → 5 years
  • £5 million → 3 years
  • £10 million → 2 years
  • Subject to absence limits, English language, Life in the UK, and future earned settlement reforms

Home Office Fees

  • Extension / ILR application: £2,000 – £3,029
  • Immigration Health Surcharge: payable for extensions
