UK Representative of an Overseas Business Visa

This route is now closed to new initial applications. Existing visa holders may still apply for extensions and settlement, subject to meeting the Immigration Rules. Originally designed for senior employees of overseas companies establishing a UK branch.

Who Can Apply (Extensions Only)

  • Existing UK Representative visa holders
  • Applicants who continue to work for the same overseas business
  • Individuals who have established and actively manage the UK entity
  • Applicants who meet residence and business activity requirements

Key Requirements for Extension

  • Ongoing active overseas parent company
  • Continued operation of the UK business
  • Genuine employment in a senior representative role
  • Compliance with residence and immigration conditions

Visa Length & Settlement

  • Extension: up to 2 years
  • Settlement possible after 5 years under current rules
  • Future settlement may be affected by the proposed earned settlement framework

Home Office Fees (Extension)

  • Visa application: £769
  • Immigration Health Surcharge: £1,035 per year
